Kustom Imprints - Cost of Cotton - 2011 |
While not widely publicized throughout the media, the cost of cotton as a commodity has dramatically increased since the start of 2010. From January 31, 2010 to January 31 2011, the price has increased 140%! Below is a real-time graphic chart to better demonstrate the huge jump of Cotton #2 Futures in a 5 year chart.
Since a large portion of the garments we sell are made from cotton fabric, this has caused our company to raise some of our prices higher. The cost of a T-shirt is derived 50-60% from the raw cotton cost. The major garment manufacturing mills like Hanes, Gildan, Jerzees, Fruit of the Loom, and Anvil have raised wholesale prices several times since July 2010. Future price increases are certain until the cost of cotton settles. Kustom Imprints cannot control the cost of cotton or the wholesale cost of blank apparel like t-shirts & sweatshirts. We can tell you no matter how volatile the cotton market is, our company will always offer our Bottom Line Low Price Guarantee and give our customers the very best customer service in our industry. If you have any questions or concerns about how this historically unusual spike in the cotton price will affect your upcoming apparel orders, please contact your KI sales representative or me direct.
