Sweatshirts or Fleece

(Back to FAQ)

Sweatshirts or Fleece

After t-shirts, our second most popular item we sell at Kustom Imprints is silk screen printed sweatshirts. Sweatshirts are also frequently called fleece as well. The term sweatshirts or fleece is fairly generic. More specific styles of sweatshirt include crewneck, pullover hooded, zipper hooded and quarter zip sweatshirt. Sweatshirts are almost always long sleeve shirts . Additionally, fleece pants or sweat pants are sometimes matched with specific styles of fleece tops.

Crewneck Sweatshirts

The most common and least expensive sweatshirt is the crewneck sweatshirt. The variation is that the collar is a simple and similar to a t-shirt style “crew” collar. Crewneck sweatshirts do come in all different fabric weights and fabric colors. Crewneck sweatshirts do not typically have sewn on pockets in the front of the fleece.

Pullover Hooded Sweatshirts

This type of sweatshirt is similar to a crewneck, but instead of a crew collar, a hood is added in the same fleece fabric. Also, it is very common for a pullover hooded sweatshirt to have a muff pocket in the front, center bottom portion of sweatshirt.

Zipper Hooded Sweatshirt

This sweatshirt is similar to a hooded to a sweatshirt, but a zipper runs down the full front, to allow for easier access to put on and take off the sweatshirt. Often front side pockets are added to xzipper hooded sweatshirts.

Quarter Zip Sweatshirts

This style of sweatshirt has a collar similar to a mock turtleneck, but has a zipper only a % of the way down the front. This style of fleece is less common than the other options above.

Sweatshirt Fabric Options

While most sweatshirt or fleece fabrics are a polyester cotton blend, recently more cotton dominated sweatshirts (ie 90% Cotton / 10% Poly) have been offered and appreciated by the public. The thickness or fabric weight of a sweatshirt is more important when determining the quality or cost of sweatshirt. The lightest weight fabric is between 7 to 8 oz and this weight is the most commonly sold fabric. Fleece fabric 9 oz. to 12 oz. are considered heavy weight options. 9 oz. fabric is also fairly common too. Crewnecks, pullover hooded and zipper hooded sweatshirts come in both 7 oz. and 9 oz. from several different brands.

Sweatshirt Brands

Just about every T-shirt company also manufactures sweatshirts too, so many of the same brands names follow. Those brand names in fleece include Hanes, Gildan, Jerzees, Fruit of the Loom, Russell, Champion, Port Authority, Sport-Tek, Port & Company, Bayside, AAA, Delta, Jensen, American Apparel, Bella, and Alternative Apparel.

How Sweatshirts are customized

At Kustom Imprints most sweatshirt are custom silk screen printed. We do frequently embroider or apply heat transfers to fleece as well. Additionally, we offer custom appliqué or tackle twill sewn to sweatshirts for several schools and teams. The least expensive way to screen print a t-shirt is a simple one location, one color imprint. For every additional imprint color and additional imprint location, the price per piece increases.

Where are T-Shirts Used?

Just about everywhere you find a t-shirt; you’ll also find sweatshirts too. Kustom Imprints sells tons of sweatshirts to schools for spiritwear, campus clubs & organizations, athletic teams, plus a wide array of businesses too.
