T-Shirt

The t-shirt is called by many other names including tshirt, tee, tee shirt and include many different styles or shirt types. The t-shirt has been around for several generations, however it was not until the 1970’s that custom screen printed t-shirts became mainstream in America and worldwide.
Different Style T-Shirts
The term t-shirt is usually meant to refer to a short sleeve, jersey knit shirt. However in the category family, there are several other styles that people also refer as simply t-shirts. The long sleeve t-shirts and pocketed t-shirts are simple variations of the plain basic short sleeve t-shirt. Tank tops, muscle shirts, cap sleeve and sleeveless t-shirts are variations with the sleeve style. Turtlenecks and mock turtlenecks are usually long sleeve t-shirts with have taller collars.
T-Shirt Fabrics
The two most common t-shirt fabrics are jersey knit, 100% Cotton and 50/50 (Which means 50% cotton / 50% polyester blend.) These fabrics come in a variety of thicknesses or weights including common measurements of 5.5 oz. and 6.1 oz. There are more fashion oriented t-shirts made in pique knit fabric, a fabric more commonly used in polo or sport shirts. Additionally, for athletic use, recently there have been some dri-mesh or dri-fit tees that are 100% polyester with the purpose to wick away moisture.
T-Shirt Brands
There are a wide variety of nationally known brands that manufacture t-shirts. Those brand name tees include Hanes, Gildan, Jerzees, Anvil, Fruit of the Loom, Russell, Champion, Port & Company, Bayside, AAA, Delta, Jensen, American Apparel, Bella, and Alternative Apparel. Some larger known brands have different individual lines of t-shirts. For instance Beefy-T, Hanes Tagless, Hanes Heavyweight, and Hanes Silver are all separate lines under the Hanes brand name.
How T-Shirts are customized
As mentioned before, at Kustom Imprints most t-shirts are custom silk screen printed. We can embroider or apply heat transfers to them as well, but screen printing is the most common embellishment. The least expensive way to screen print a t-shirt is a simple one location, one color imprint. For every additional imprint color and additional imprint location, the price per piece increases.
Where are T-Shirts Used?
The question almost should be where are t-shirt not used! It would almost be impossible to walk through any American populated area and not find a person wearing a t-shirt. T-Shirts are in some case school, workplace or athletic uniforms, promotional attire, recreational garments, fashion wear, mascot or spiritwear. Just find any school, college, athletic team, industrial or construction company or hundreds of other areas and you’ll find an individual wearing a custom screen printed t-shirt.

Those brand names in fleece include Hanes, Gildan, Jerzees, Fruit of the Loom, Russell, Champion, Port Authority, Sport-Tek, Port & Company, Bayside, AAA, Delta, Jensen, American Apparel, Bella, and Alternative Apparel.
