Kustom Imprints is California's best resource for custom screen printing. Our professional print shop staff screen prints thousands of garments every day and we would like to put our expertise to work for you.

Screen printing is Kustom Imprints primary method of apparel decoration.  Screen printing is not new, but rather actually one of the first forms of printing. The process essentially is passing ink through a stenciled mesh material on to the surface of a garment or other item to create the "screen printing". The most common items we screen print are T-Shirt and sweatshirts, but there are hundreds of other items that we have screen printed in the past. Kustom Imprints has top of the line equipment to produce quality screen printing results. We have two M & R automatic screen presses. We can imprint up to 10,000 screen prints in a day and up to 8 separate imprint colors. Better than the equipment, our professional screen printing orange county staff is both experienced and well trained to produce quality results for our customers’ custom designs.

Spot Color Printing Vs. 4-Color Process Printing

95% of our screen printing jobs are done as spot color printing. Each screen imprint color requires its own screen and there are well over 1,000 Pantone colors from which to choose the specific colors for your image. Sport colors provide the most vibrant colors and long last graphic images for your screen printing project. A 4-color process image is simply a series of 4 different dot colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) used to produce the many shadings of a screen printed image. 4-color process screen printed images need at least 4 screens but often need additional highlight screen to increase color vibrancy.

Screen printing on dark garments

When printing on black or other dark garments, we recommend laying a base coat of white first before applying the proper imprint color. This allows the true color to show as vibrant in the final screen printing project. However, some customers prefer a softer, more faded look with their screen print. If you desire to your image to not be perfectly bright, please be sure to indicate that with your order. Avoid Narrow Gaps and Thin Lines with Screen Printing When ink is screen printed onto a substrate like a t-shirt or sweatshirt, the imprint is not 100% perfectly sized to the screen stencil. The imprint experiences what is called dot-gain, where the image microscopically grows larger. To the human eye, the change is not noticeable except in the graphic case of narrow gaps in the artwork. Always make sure that your design does not have a gap less than 2-3 points. Additionally, it is wise to avoid thin lines when screen printing. Specifically, your art design should not have lines thinner than 1 point wide. Any line smaller may not be able to be perfectly burned on the screen and produce sub-standard results. No matter how you want your design printed, it is always best to write out your exact desires. This helps our printing department always know that they are going to meet your specific needs for your screen printing project.
